Welcome to our Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse page. Here you will find information about our Starting Point Helpline, support services, and details of our response to the Royal Commission - all of which we hope will assist you to better understand the commission findings, its impact, and how as a survivor, family member, or concerned member of the public you can process and navigate its outcomes.
Commission is inquiring into how institutions and organisations with a responsibility
for children have managed and responded to allegations and instances of child
sexual abuse and related matters.
The ‘Starting Point Helpline’ is a support service that will enable you to tell your story – even if you don’t want to speak to the Royal Commission. Starting Point Helpline provides safe and anonymous support for survivors of childhood sexual abuse who may never have spoken about their abuse. It is here to help anyone who may have been affected by or want to participate in the Royal Commission. There are a wide range of support services available to adult survivors of child sexual abuse. If you are unsure of who to speak to, or what you
should do, call the free, anonymous Starting Point Helpline on 1800 99 10 99.
Commission has a range of materials to support people who want to take part in
its work. Information has been provided in easy to read formats – there are
resources for Indigenous Australians, Disability and Youth – allowing us to
support the most vulnerable people who may not have a voice. This section provides a list, and offers some advice for those who are interested in
At Child Wise, we are committed to the prevention of institutional and organisational child abuse. We are sharing our expertise in creating child safe organisations and communities by providing recommendations to the Commissioners as they investigate where systems have failed to protect children. We are also working with organisations through our Child Safer Certification Program to improve the safety and wellbeing of children and young people within organisations.
