The Community of Practice aims to provide accessible information and support for Child Safety Officers or anyone whose role includes a focus on child safety within their organisation, anywhere in Australia.
What does the Community of Practice membership include?
A webinar series featuring experts in child safeguarding
Hear from a sensational line-up of high-profile child safety experts, as they explore different topics of interest and address some of the challenges for organisations in the social and legislative context post the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse. The webinar series is the cornerstone of the Community of Practice, which comes at no extra cost for members. For non-members, each webinar costs $50 + GST.
Curated, bi-monthly policy updates
The policy updates are designed to keep members up-to-date with changes in laws and policies related to child safety on a national and state-by-state level. The Community of Practice provides a space where these updates will be curated and available in the one spot, saving you time going through the news, so you won’t miss a beat!
Good Practice Guides
According to our advisers and trainers, implementing policy into practice is a common challenge for organisations. To assist you in your role, we’ve created Good Practice Guides that apply a practical lens to bringing child safety policy to life. New guides will be available regularly. You will find plenty of tips in there that you can apply in your organisation, and even print and display parts of them.
Access to Child Wise advisers for information and support
Our experienced advisers are happy to answer one off questions about child safety in your workplace. Feel free to pick up the phone if you need a sounding board for an issue. We can also talk to you about ways we can provide you with ongoing support through our coaching and consulting packages. These are suitable where regular or ongoing information and support is required.
How can I access Child Wise advisers?
Call the Child Wise office at 1300 CHILD WISE or email email@example.com and you will be put in contact with one of our advisers. If they are unavailable at that time, you will be contacted within 48 hours.
Networking opportunities with other peers in the child protection field
As part of the membership, we aim to provide face-to-face opportunities for networking and discussion with peers in your area. This will happen on an ad hoc basis in the first year, as our membership base grows in every state. We want to ensure that we reach those of you who work in rural and regional areas particularly, and make sure you feel part of the Community.
Tools and templates to support a child safety framework
A range of tools and templates are available to support your child safety framework developed under a Child Wise lens and hand-picked by our advisers. While there is a plethora of different tools and templates available on the Internet, our tools are targeted to Child Safety Officers. These will be updated on an ongoing basis and we welcome your suggestions on what you need to support your work of keeping children safe.
